PartnerStack vs Rewardful vs FirstPromoter: Affiliate Tools for SaaS Compared

Three SaaS affiliate tools, compared on what actually decides the choice: whether you need a partner marketplace, how pricing scales, which billing stack you run, fraud controls and payouts.

For a SaaS company starting a partner program, the shortlist often comes down to three tools: PartnerStack, Rewardful and FirstPromoter. They look similar on a feature list, but they are built for different stages and different kinds of partners. This comparison covers the real difference (a marketplace platform versus bring-your-own-partner software), pricing, integrations, fraud controls and our recommendation by stage.

Every price and feature below was checked on each vendor's own pricing or documentation page, linked. If you already know you want PartnerStack, our PartnerStack setup guide walks through the build. For the wider strategy, see affiliate marketing for SaaS companies.

The short version

  • Rewardful and FirstPromoter are affiliate tracking software: you bring the partners, they track, attribute and help you pay.
  • PartnerStack is a partner platform with its own marketplace, plus lead and deal registration for agencies and resellers.
  • Rewardful and FirstPromoter publish prices from $49 a month, tiered by affiliate revenue. PartnerStack confirms price on a demo.
  • Early stage and Stripe-billed: start with Rewardful or FirstPromoter. Sales-led with agency or reseller partners: PartnerStack is worth the demo.

Marketplace vs bring your own partners

This is the decision that matters most, and it comes before price.

PartnerStack gives every plan access to the PartnerStack Marketplace, which its pricing page describes as a way to "get discovered by active B2B partners." Its homepage says its B2B partner network has 152K+ active partners. It also supports referral and reseller programs with lead submission and deal registration, which suits agencies and consultants who send your sales team a prospect rather than a click.

Rewardful and FirstPromoter do not come with a partner network. You recruit affiliates yourself, from customers, newsletters, review sites, YouTubers and agencies, and send them to a branded signup page. The software then tracks clicks, signups and payments, calculates commissions and helps you pay.

In our experience, a marketplace helps most when your product sits in a category that marketplace partners already promote. It does not replace outreach. If you plan to recruit most partners yourself anyway, you are paying mainly for tracking, and the lighter tools win on cost. Our affiliate recruitment playbook covers outbound recruiting.

A few details sit under those headline numbers:

  • Rewardful says every plan includes a 14-day free trial, unlimited affiliates and a 0% transaction fee on affiliate-attributed revenue. Its Enterprise plan is tiered, so higher usage moves to a higher tier. Starter allows one campaign and up to two team members; the branded affiliate portal and custom domain start on Growth. Yearly billing is advertised as two months free.
  • FirstPromoter offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card and unlimited team members on every plan. Starter is capped at 1,000 affiliates and 3 campaigns; Business and Enterprise are unlimited. Yearly plans are listed at $490, $990 and $1,490 a year.
  • PartnerStack says it does not limit partners or internal users. Its entry plan, Launch, includes "affiliate link tracking or lead and deal registration," and you choose one; both together come with Enterprise.

On all three, commissions are a separate cost you set, and payment processor or payout fees are separate too. Compare total cost at the affiliate revenue you expect in a year, not today, because the two published price lists step up with affiliate revenue.

Integrations

For a SaaS program the integrations that matter are billing (so recurring payments and refunds are tracked) and, for sales-led programs, the CRM.

  • Rewardful is built around Stripe, with what it calls a two-way Stripe sync that shows Rewardful data in your Stripe dashboard. Its pricing page lists Stripe and Paddle among the payment providers whose fees are charged separately. It offers REST API access on every plan and no-code integrations listed on its integrations page.
  • FirstPromoter lists Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree as billing providers on its pricing page, with a historical Stripe import when you migrate. It also lists no-code platforms such as HighLevel, ClickFunnels, Ghost, Kajabi and ThriveCart, plus Zapier, Make and Albato, and APIs with webhooks.
  • PartnerStack documents payment tracking for Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly and Chargify, with guides for Maxio and Paddle, and CRM sync for HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive for leads and deals.

If your billing runs on Stripe, all three will work. If you bill through Chargebee or Recurly, Rewardful is the one to question closely on the demo or trial. If partners hand you leads that close in a CRM weeks later, PartnerStack's lead and deal objects do that job natively.

Fraud controls

Fraud in SaaS programs is usually self-referrals, coupon leakage and partners bidding on your brand name in paid search. Here is what each vendor documents:

  • Rewardful includes self-referral fraud detection on every plan; its features page says it automatically identifies and deactivates suspected self-referrals, and adjusts commissions for refunds and plan changes.
  • FirstPromoter lists self-referral detection, a paid-ad traffic policy, reCAPTCHA, automatic negative commissions on refunds, manual approval thresholds and two-factor authentication on large payments, on every plan.
  • PartnerStack says in its fraud monitoring docs that every program has access to a fraud suite that runs partner signups, transactions and behaviour through the Sift fraud network, with flagged cases you can review or dispute.

Whatever the tool, write your own rules into the program terms (no brand bidding, no coupon sites unless approved, no self-referrals) and review commissions before each payout. Software flags problems; someone still has to decide.

Payouts

  • Rewardful: PayPal mass payouts and Wise bulk payouts on every plan, one-click PayPal payouts on Enterprise, and an optional Managed Payouts service.
  • FirstPromoter: mass payouts by PayPal, Wise, Stripe, crypto and bank transfer, with 190 currencies listed. Managed Auto Payouts, where you pay one invoice and FirstPromoter pays affiliates, is Enterprise only and needs approval.
  • PartnerStack: one monthly invoice to you, "no matter how many partners you have," and partners cash out from their PartnerStack account.

Other differences worth knowing

  • Multi-tier commissions: FirstPromoter lists multi-tier commissions across up to 3 levels on every plan.
  • Attribution: Rewardful offers first- or last-touch attribution on every plan. FirstPromoter lists first-click or last-click and cookie lengths up to 9,999 days.
  • Coupon tracking: both Rewardful and FirstPromoter track coupon codes, useful for creators and podcasts where links are awkward.
  • Partner enablement: PartnerStack's Growth plan adds a learning management solution, partner challenges and MDF management, which matter for reseller and agency programs more than for affiliates.

Our recommendation by stage

These are rules of thumb from running programs, not vendor claims. Your partner mix matters more than your revenue.

StageWhat we usually recommendWhy
Pre-launch or early MRR, Stripe billing, mostly customers and creators as partnersRewardful or FirstPromoterLow fixed cost, fast setup, a free trial to test tracking
Growing MRR, several campaigns, non-Stripe billing or multi-tier needsFirstPromoter, or Rewardful GrowthUnlimited campaigns, wider billing support, more control over rates
Sales-led, agencies, consultants or resellers in the mix, or a need for marketplace reachPartnerStackLead and deal registration, CRM sync, marketplace access
Mixed consumer and B2B partners at scaleAlso look at impact.comSee impact.com vs PartnerStack

Switching later is possible but costs effort: partners need new links and your history needs moving. Our migration checklist covers that, and it is a good reason to choose for the program you expect in a year.
